Southampton Container Port
Berth 201/202 Reconstruction
As cargo ships have increased in length and in draft Southampton docks was no longer able to accommodate them. The project to deepen and combine Berths 201 and 202 into a super berth at 500m long and 16m deep allows Southampton to again accommodate even the largest of cargo vessels.
HAURATON supplied 1000m of HiCap 680, high capacity drainage channels to remove surface water and allow the berth to remain open under severe storm conditions.
The HiCap channels will be subject to extreme loads imposed from the 4 new Gantry cranes being installed. Each purpose built crane being capable of lifting 16 containers at once to 65 tonnes.
